Last updated on Fri 22/07/2022 - 14:54

A Research Associate position is available for ambitious materials scientists or chemists to undertake research in the field of graphene-polymer composites and related 2D materials, with a focus upon epoxy-based nanocomposites. The position will be held in the Advanced Nanomaterials Group at the School of Materials, under Professor Robert Young and Professor Ian Kinloch. The research is part of the recently announced collaboration between the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials(BIAM)and the University of Manchester to develop new aerospace materials.

Applicants will have competence in the functionalization of nanomaterials and preferably in their incorporation into nanocomposites. Preferably they should also have experience in nanocomposites, including control of their microstructure. Applicants should be able to work under pressure, to maintain a high degree of accuracy and to write and present their work. Applicants should have a PhD, or equivalent, in Materials Science, Chemistry or a related discipline and a strong publication track record. It would be advantageous to have competence in carbon nanomaterials.
