A fixed term, full time appointment for up to 18 month is available at the Department of Materials at Imperial College London for a Research Associate to develop and characterize novel graphene structures.
The post holder will work in the research group of Dr Cecilia Mattevi and will be involved in collaboration within and external to Imperial College, with internationally recognized research groups. The Research Associate will be expected to synthesize graphene structures, develop strategies to induce different functionalities and fully characterize and understand the structural and chemical characteristics of the material.
Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in materials science, applied physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or engineering, must have a strong background and experience with processing of low-dimensional materials and a range of materials characterization techniques, which includes: transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
The applicant must have a track record of productive research. Excellent spoken and written communication skills are necessary.
