AGM logo imageApplied Graphene Materials (previously Durham Graphene Science) was established in 2010 as a spin-off from Durham University to develop a new graphene synthesis method and produce graphene materials. AGM's technology is a unique patented scalable 'bottom-up' CVD approach to produce graphene. AGM is a public company that lists in the UK's AIM stock exchange (AIM:AGM).

AGM mainly targets graphene composites, coatings, lubricants, thermal management solutions and energy storage devices. In October 2016 AGM announced its first commercial customer, UK's Century Composites, that will use graphene in a new range of fishing rods, and since then the company announced new products and customers. AGM to present 'breakthrough nanotechnology for water-based epoxy coating' at Corrosion 2021 event

AGM logo imageApplied Graphene Materials (AGM), producer of graphene nanoplatelet dispersions, recently announced that it will be presenting a breakthrough technology that enables easy graphene dispersion in water-based epoxy coatings, while delivering improved corrosion protection, at the Corrosion 21 Conference & Expo on 28th April 2021.

AGM said that the technology represents a major milestone in the development of performance-enhancing graphene technologies for more sustainable coatings manufacturers. AGM has previously made strides in anticorrosion performance in solvent-based coatings through the use of its Genable graphene nanoplatelet dispersion technology. However, water-based coating development remains a key focus for industry formulators looking to improve the safety and environmental impacts of their products.

The microcrystalline wax-based polish is said to be the result of the continued partnership and a rigorous testing programme delivered by Halo Autocare. This has produced a new product that delivers extended performance benefits, including improved thermal and chemical resistance to enhance coating durability further for demanding wheel and exhaust applications. The temperature resistance made possible through the new graphene nanoplatelet formulation helps with durability when alloy wheels heat up from consistent brake use. Combining these attributes with excellent barrier performance means that water spotting is also less likely to occur.
