GMG and Beijer Ref partner to bring graphene-based coatings to Australia’s HVAC-R market

Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) has announced a new collaboration with global refrigeration and HVAC leader Beijer Ref. Starting November 17, 2025, Beijer Ref will offer GMG’s proprietary THERMAL-XR® ENHANCE heat transfer coating as an optional upgrade for Beijer Ref and Kirby-branded refrigeration evaporator coils across all 73 of its wholesale locations in Australia.

Customers choosing the THERMAL-XR® ENHANCE option will contract directly with Beijer Ref under a bilateral agreement with GMG, aligned with GMG’s standard terms and conditions. This partnership marks a major milestone in GMG’s commercialization roadmap for its graphene-powered coatings designed to deliver improved thermal performance, corrosion protection, and energy efficiency within the HVAC-R industry.

While the agreement is for an indeterminate period, the companies expect the demonstrated performance advantages of GMG’s graphene-enhanced solution to foster a long-term relationship. Either party retains the option to conclude the collaboration at any time.

Headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, Beijer Ref operates across more than 40 countries with over 500 branches and a workforce of 6,000 serving 200,000 customers. In Australia, Beijer Ref Group distributes through Kirby, Beijer Ref Australia, SCM REF Australia, and ACD Trade, providing refrigeration and air-conditioning systems for sectors such as supermarkets, industrial cooling, and cold storage.

GMG’s THERMAL-XR® ENHANCE coating leverages a graphene-based formulation that boosts the thermal performance and durability of heat exchange components. Applying the coating to Beijer Patton and Kirby Guardian evaporator coils is expected to significantly reduce corrosion, enhance cooling efficiency, lower energy consumption, and contribute to sustainability targets across commercial and industrial applications.

As part of this rollout, GMG will deploy a network of trained and certified HVAC contractors across major Australian cities. Each contractor will be accredited through the GMG SPRAY ACADEMY, completing training in the company’s three-step coating protocol: surface preparation, graphene coating application, and post-application quality verification. This ensures uniform performance, safety compliance, and integrity across all installations.

Certified partners will provide coating services both on-site and at pre-approved GMG spray facilities nationwide, enabling efficient scalability through Beijer Ref’s extensive distribution channels. By leveraging experienced HVAC professionals, GMG ensures consistent service quality, rapid deployment, and continued adherence to warranty and performance standards.

This contractor framework underscores GMG’s broader commercialization strategy — combining graphene innovation, technical training, and channel partnerships to accelerate real-world adoption of its advanced coatings. The model enhances product accessibility, strengthens after-sales support, and positions GMG at the forefront of energy efficiency solutions in the HVAC-R market.

Craig Nicol, GMG’s Chief Executive Officer, stated: “We are proud to see THERMAL-XR® ENHANCE incorporated into Beijer Ref's and Kirby’s product offerings in Australia as an option for their leading HVAC-R products. This partnership demonstrates the growing recognition of graphene-enhanced materials as a viable route to corrosion resistance and greater efficiency in conventional HVAC-R systems. The Company continues to expand its market reach globally through strategic channel partners and remains committed to advancing environmentally responsible technologies through graphene innovation.”

Jack Perkowski, GMG’s Chairman and Non-Executive Director, added: "Congrats to the team – great to see this next step in the roll out of GMG's global leading energy saving products."
