Altered Carbon (AC) was founded in 2018 in Bristol Robotics Laboratory, where the company is based. 

The Company is developing an AI-driven digital nose technology, capable of detecting an extensive range of scents (VOCs). This innovative technology could potentially be used in various sectors, including food storage, ‘health wearables’, and environmental management. By providing precise and timely data, AC’s technology can facilitate informed decision-making, leading to enhanced operational efficiency and sustainability.

AC's technology, K9Sense, uses a graphene chip to detect and identify a vast range of scent combinations. This data is then categorized and stored in the 'scent library'. This ever-evolving collection forms a unique database of odors, enabling our technology to recognize and differentiate between millions of scents.
