Morrow Batteries

Company Type:

Morrow Batteries is a battery company registered in Norway, which aims to build and scale up battery cell production in Norway in the coming years. Morrow Batteries is a joint venture between Graphene Batteries and Agder Energy Ventures.

Morrow was founded in 2020 with two lead investors: Agder Energi Venture, a wholly owned subsidiary of Agder Energi, and NOAH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gjelsten Holding.

Other owners include BEBA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bellona Holding, Frederic Hauge, the founder of the Bellona Foundation, and the management team of Morrow. The company initially plans to produce battery cells based on available conventional technology, for which purpose it is setting up a new giga-factory.

However, it also aims to develop and industrialize next generation graphene-enhanced Lithium-Sulfur batteries which will both significantly improve the performance of the battery and significantly reduce its environmental footprint. Morrow will inherit the technology platform of Graphene Batteries, a company that has spent years developing graphene-enhanced battery tech, and some components such as graphene coated current collector foils will already be used in the first factory that will be built based on existing Li-ion technology.
